Our Nursery
We are fortunate to be able to provide nursery provision for the children in our community.
Our Nursery offers a safe and nurturing environment where children are supported to explore and develop their interests though planned learning opportunities and high-quality interactions that engage and inspire them both inside and outside of the classroom. Our aim is to make the first experience of school exciting and memorable for all of our children where they feel safe, valued and part of our whole school community.
Nursery provision
The Nursery school is open from 8:45am – 3:15pm, from Monday to Friday during school term time only. Spaces are available for families who access 15 hour and 30 hour government funded places and additional attended sessions can be paid for to suit the needs of families.
The Nursery attendance is split into morning and afternoon sessions. We ask that children who access 15 hours of provision attend across either 5 mornings or 5 afternoons. Children who access 30 hours of provision can attend full time. The timetable of the day is shown below:
8:45am – 11:45am | Morning session |
11:45am-12:15pm | Lunch club (£3 per session) |
12:15pm – 3:15pm | Afternoon session |
Lunch club for Nursery children runs in the middle of the day. This is an opportunity for children to enjoy the social experience of eating with their peers – this is a positive experience as the children prepare for moving to school.
Resources and staffing
We are fortunate to have huge outdoor spaces that our Nursery children can access. Children are able to enjoy the benefits of being in a school based nursery and have access to all of the school wide resources – they will often be found out on a muddy welly walk!
The Nursery is staffed by an experienced teacher, supported by two experienced early years qualified support staff.
Curriculum
In Nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which supports children from birth to 5 years old.
Children at Swallow Dell learn through play and through the positive relationships and stimulating environment they are immersed in. They are encouraged to learn from their mistakes, take risks and are supported to feel confident to do this within our setting. We recognise that children develop quickly in the Early Years and believe a child’s experiences, early on, will have a major impact and shape their future life chances.
The children are taught through a mixture of adult directed activities and child initiated learning opportunities and are questioned and supported by our team of dedicated staff who ensure the children are happy and excited to learn and are ready and prepared for the next stage of their development.
Our school values of kindness, respect and ambition underpin everything we do.
